What is the Waterlase?

Waterlase is our dental laser. We can perform both hard and soft tissue applications with it, while minimizing recovery time, reducing or eliminating the need for anesthesia, and improving patient comfort. Soft tissue procedures include crown lengthening, gum lifts, periodontal therapy, gum grafts, biopsies, and canker sore removal. Hard tissue applications include tooth decay removal and bone grafts.

How does laser dentistry reduce and eliminate pain?

Heat and vibration are the causes of most of the pain associated with the dental drill. Waterlase dentistry (with Erbium technology) combines laser energy with air-water spray to perform a wide variety of dental procedures more comfortably.

I don’t respond well to anesthesia. I also suffer from dental anxiety. How can Dr. Petre help me?

In addition to her gentle touch and comfort-enhancing technologies, Dr. Petre offers oral conscious sedation. If you suffer with dental fear, don’t respond well to traditional anesthesia, or need multiple procedures performed in one visit, ask about oral conscious sedation.

At what age should my children first see a dentist?

Children should have their first dental visit about 6 months after their primary teeth have erupted or after their first birthday. This allows Dr. Petre an opportunity to spot and prevent potential oral health/dental problems. It also gives the child a positive, nonthreatening dental office experience.
